At the American Academy of Implant Dentistry's 2013 Annual Meeting, which was held in Phoenix, Arizona, October 23-26. George Athansios, DMD, of Cedar Grove, NJ was recognized as an Associate Fellow of the Academy. As one of 618 dentists who hold this distinguised membership, Dr. Athansios is one of the leading experts in implant care. He maintains a dental practice in West Milford and Cedar Grove, NJ.
To qualify for Associate Fellowship, Dr. Athansios completed over 300 hours of post-doctoral instruction in implant dentistry, performed implant cases and passed the Academy's Associate Fellow examination. This examination, which is conducted by an expert panel of implant dentists, included written examination, a series of oral examinations and defense of various complicated implant cases that had been completed.
The examination process measured Dr. Athansios's clinical proficiency in surgical and prosthetic dental implant techniques, in-depth knowledge of dental implants, and commitment to excellence in implant dental practice and to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry's standards for ethics and patient welfare.
The American Academy of Implant Dentistry is the oldest professional organization in the U.S. dedicated to the advancement of the implnat field. Its more than 4,300 members include general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, and prostodontis. The Academy's Associate Fellow and Fellow credentials are a testament to excellence in implant dentistry.

Our office now has a 3D Imaging Scanner -Sirona Orthophos XG. Apollonia Dental Arts is one of about 600 dental offices across the country and the only dental practice in West Milford using a state-of-the-art Dental CT scanner right in the dental office to diagnose and treat patients. The Sirona Orthophos XG 3D imaging system scans your head and jaw bones in 3-D, creating sharply detailed computer measurements of head, joints and airways that can be viewed from any angle and even as cross-sections.
This upgrades dental imaging far beyond traditional x-rays, where patients wear lead aprons and hold film in their mouths. Dr. George uses the CT scanner to diagnose patients, spot disease, and test surgical procedures in 3D. This helps predict outcomes for technical procedures like dental implants, sinus lifts, cosmetic dentistry, and neuromuscular dentistry.
